Photography Statement
I got drawn to photography because of it's accessible way of allowing me to express myself. I consider myself shy, and the camera gives me a tool to reach out and grab hold of life. I have used photography to learn more about home, my family, and most importantly, about myself. For me, photography is an emotional exploration that is important to my existance.
When I pick up my camera, I mainly shoot images that give me a sense of peace. When an object or person is at rest, I often detect a raw beauty, and that is what I try to capture. I tend not to over analyze the lighting or composition. Many of my favorite photos are out-of-focus. I prefer to let the technical aspects of a photograph simply happen, rather than trying to force them into the image.
It is now my quest to connect with the energy that appears to be a part of everything. I find myself looking deeper at everyday objects, and trying to connect with the energy that is present. What I am trying to convey is the give and take between myself and the object, and how the interaction effects me.
